Rightly said manners are the most important attribute of a human being. The way one individual behaves they depict their manners and culture. Looking at the world scenarios, Japan stands as the most mannered country. After studying the Japanese people, the root cause of their mannered behavior is the schools in Japan. Japanese schools beleive that once human beigns are first taught life skills then they can achieve all the success as an individual. They have distinct ways to develop independent and mannered kids.
Here are some of the effective ways to develop independent and mannered kids like Japan:
1.Travelling to schools alone at early age:
In most of countries we see parents drop kids in the schools till the age of 15. Whereas Japanese kids are taught to travel alone to school right from the age of 6. While travelling they start becoming responsible and learn to be independent. Even if they miss the train or bus they try to catch the same and learn the situation awareness at much early age as compared to other countries.
2.Thank for meal to mothers:
We see, mother cooking and serving food is by default taken for granted. But it is an act of kindness in Japan. Kids are taught to say thank you to mother for cooking and serving food every day. Practicing such gratitude since childhood make kids humble and polite. They start learning gratitude from day today activity.
3.School Farming :
Lunch break is more than a tiffin box for Japan kids. They learn the growing of vegetables from their school farms. They grow plants and harvest the vegetables by themselves from grade 2. Learning the farm activities make them aware about the organic quality food ingredients and its farming. After farming they are made to look after the grocery of school kitchen. They are asked to maintain the requirements of food ingredients and left overs, with food management they become aware of food wastage and start reducing and recycling wastage.
4.Thank you to teachers and Lunch Break Mangers:
Even Teachers teaching is not taken for granted, they are taught to say thank you to teachers for sharing knowledge. It is everyday activity to express gratitude towards teachers after every lecture. Lunch break is different, from grade 5 onwards students form a groups and serve the food to all students in group wise manner. Remaining students say thank to the serving groups. Lunch break begins with a prayer and ends by thanking to everyone in cooking section.
5.Cleaning school by students :
No maids or servants Japan kids are themselves asked to clean the washrooms, classrooms and teachers rooms every day. It is student’s responsibility to keep the school clean every day. With such a habit from school Japan also stands for having the cleanest Toilets in the world too.
